It all started with a locally raised pig from a family friend, it was so good and so different from what we had been eating. It started with a stay-at-home Dad trying a new hobby of growing mushrooms. It started with an incredibly deep love for our children and wanting so much for them and their experience of life.. With a feeling that things just aren’t right. With all of the threads unwinding at the same time, we decided that we wanted to weave the fabric of our lives back together in a different way; one that felt right inside and was truly inline with our values. We decided that we wanted to be the change we want to see in the world and not just talk about it anymore. We could truly invest in ourselves and our community with Peaceful Harvest Mushrooms. Breaking ground on June 9th, 2014, the Mushroom Barn we know it to be began coming to life with the help of friends and family. Thanks to all of their love, support and endless hours of hard work, we had completed the building process before the first snow fall of the year. By January of 2015, the first 6 petri dishes were streaked with shiitake spores and you know what they say, the rest is history.
