If you were offered something called "The Herb of Long Life", would you go go for it? Well, for many of our ancestors, the answer was a resounding "Yes!"

Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum) is a polypore mushroom with a rich and vibrant history, as well as an ever-growing list of benefits for our health! Its Latin name comes from the Greek words for "bright" (ganos) and "skin" (derma), which makes sense if you take a peak at one: a pallet of vibrant colors, bending and twisting architecture, all enveloped in an eye-catching, shimmering glaze! It's truly a wonder of nature. It has held several impressive titles in the 2000+ years it has been revered as a potent natural medicine. "The Herb of Long Life,” "Herb of Spiritual Potency," and even, the "Elixir of Immortality.” We are all fortunate that plenty of researchers have studied this mushroom to verify its exalted status.

There are several kinds of Reishi that grow across our planet. Ganoderma lucidum is the species found in the eastern hemisphere. Various Ganoderma species, such as Ganoderma tsugae grow here in the eastern United States and Ganoderma oregonese grow in the west. All of these have been shown to share many of the same compounds and all are referred to as Reishi.

Current research suggests Reishi may boost and support the immune system, respiratory function, cardiovascular health and much more. A 2002 study even states that compounds found in Reishi may maintain healthy inflammation levels, which can be seen supporting multiple organ systems from the heart, to the liver and lungs.

Surely that's impressive enough, you may be thinking, but wait, there's more! On top of all that, Reishi has also been used for centuries as an an immune system support. This can help support a more balanced and healthy histamine response. No wonder humans have been using this amazing mushroom for centuries. If we turn our attention towards the wisdom of the natural world, Reishi can continue to help us for centuries to come!

All of our products contain Reishi Ganoderma tsugae, which is the locally available variety of Reishi. Most of the research done on Reishi has been performed in China using Reishi Ganoderma Lucidum although there is now even some question on the actual species in some of the older studies. Because the mushrooms have similar constituents, the research is applicable for Reishi Ganoderma tsugae.
